Windows Update Crashed my Computer

During an attempt to update my Windows 11 OS, something [not] unexpected happened, Windows crashed. It wasn’t one of the ragular crashes that can be fixed if you know what you are doing. Rather, it was the kind of crash that turns your computer into a large paperweight. Thankfully, the disk didn’t crash, and I was able to pull all my files off the SSD and write them onto a new 10TB SATA I was forced to buy in order to have enough space to back everything up correctly, which included my Linux OS as well.

Having the Linux OS available made everything easy. I used rsync via Grsync (it’s graphical front end) to copy everything. Rsync is my go-to safe and secure file copy, move, backup, verify, and everything else you can think of prefered program to get it all done. If any read/write error pops up, one simply re-runs rsync and it finishes the job. The default settings always copy and varify first, then, if you are moving files, it deletes the original last.

Files are backed up. Windows SSD is reformatted. Here we go …
